You have managed to fit a lot of emotion into a very compact space. Instead of full figures or even full busts or heads, you have given us a macro of the lovers. The heavy lids and parted lips are quite emotive and sexy. The promise of a kiss hangs between them and their intimacy is palpable. Your technique is great - the shading (and yes, it is evident how much you put into it) is excellent and adds significantly to the mood of the piece. More than the technique, what grabs me is the emotion - a kind of playful sexiness that expresses the passionate feeling between two people. Many portraits are accurate depictions or representations of people, but this drawing captures a moment and tells an entire story.
